Works on paper by SYLVA PAULI

In 1992, Sylva Pauli enrolled to the International Summer Art Academy in Salzburg, to the print making class of renowned Czech graphic artist, painter and sculptor, professor Adriana Šimotová. Her works resonated with Sylva´s innermost interest in the human essence as well as in experimenting with different graphic techniques.

Another remarkable opportunity arose at the Salzburg Art Academy a year later. Sylva joined a print making class of Japanese Professor Kunito Nagaoka from Kyoto and Berlin. Over the years Sylva Pauli continued her education with Prof. Nagaoka in the Austrian city Geras.Kunito Nagaoka was intensely focused on calligraphy, technique that combines collage with other graphic techniques without the use of chemicals. Such combination of printing methods results in a single, unrepeatable, unique.

Third important personality, that influenced her artistic formation was Professor Jindřich Vávra, an exceptional teacher of the School of Art in Prague.

Additional positive influence, indirectly affecting her creative mind, represents her work in herown architectural studio. In 1985 she graduated from the Czech Technical University in Prague, she received the Austrian nostrification in 1994 and authorization in 1996.

Author's print is marked A.E. Each sheet is for Sylva Pauli process full of surprises, spiralling movement between searching for new paths andreturning to already gained experiences. A close relationship to literature is always a guarantee of an interesting title of her works. The designation "Without a Title" in her own words cannot happen.

The unpredictability of the outcome of her artistic endeavoursare for Sylva as stronga fact as is the unpredictability associated with the deepest levels of our consciousness.

Sylva Pauli´s work on handmade paper open onto the garden of our Universe, combine fiction with reality to please the viewer's eye and his equally unpredictable imagination.

Práce významné české grafičky, malířky a sochařky Adriany jí byly blízké pro její niterní zájem o člověka samotného a experimentální způsob používání grafických postupů.

Souběžný vliv, ovlivňující nepřímo její výtvarný názor, představuje pak práce v jejím architektonickém ateliéru; Pražskou techniku absolvovala v roce 1985, rakouskou nostrifikaci a autorizaci v roce 1994 a 1996.
